Joe Biden needs to acknowledge 'pissed-off' White People. He has to speak personally to their thoughts and struggles.
The White People I am referring to are a racially identified culture. Many have not achieved and/or maintained the economic promises they imagined their racial identity promised or implied to them. They share a common sense of betrayal and loss of status. They are primarily Rural. They face diminishing economic opportunities. Their Children are migrating to the cities. Essential services are disappearing. Their lives (as reported by them) have no presence and value in this country. There are other Rural groups( Asian, etc.) facing the hardships of Rural life. I am focusing on White People.
Here is an address to the Country I would like Joe Biden to make:
“We are descendants of the Many. We celebrate our countries of origin, but once we become American, we are of the Many. Some of you struggle with food insecurity, lack of income, the opportunity to thrive, and resentment. Many of you value your birthright. Many of you fear losing it. (many of you have). Many of you have watched your wealth dissipate and lose its value. You have every reason to be angry, bitter, and isolated from your Representatives. You feel you have lost your birthright, lost your status in this culture of Many. You think you have to defend yourself with Guns and make a hard stand for the right to keep and bear these arms as the only way to stay alive and pass on your 'inherited' rights. Many of you experience a chaotic economic system intending to undermine your right to benefit from farming, manual labor, manufacturing, small business as well as your right to earn a living wage. You may be ill from the stress of frustrations and the lack of ability to pass on a lifetime of personal wealth to your children. Many of you see others benefiting or, at the very least, dismissive of your distress. Many of you believe this system wants you out of the way of 'progress.' Some politicians want to speak for your struggles and tap into your resentments as a source of political power. Be aware of whom you send back to Congress.
People not getting what they need (while others are 'earning' their share — and yours, too) must be acknowledged, brought out of the shadows, and included in community-based solutions.
White People who struggle deserve to have a conversation with the Many who can identify with the same ‘concerns.’
We must find a Common Reality that can include the following ideas:
1. Capitalism is an economic system that strives to accumulate more money. If not obligated to give back, it will most likely not. Question and Challenge your representatives about where the money is going and whether you are being deceived.
2. All education must have social, economic, and personal value. It must be participatory and relate to local, state, and national levels. Without participation, there is no Democracy.
3. Our Humanity transcends our belief systems. Humans live in a natural world that supports life in all things. Within that World, we are compelled as a Species to seek relationships that allow us to sustain life on this planet. Our senses provide us with ways to learn. As we engage, we gather living experience. Our mind holds these life experiences and harmonizes relationships with others and ourselves. Suppose we do not speak to one another from our shared humanity. In that case, we are doomed to watch generations of children become less familiar to us, mindlessly meeting their needs, less competent as human beings, and less able to live on this planet.
Joe Biden does not express these concerns to the Many. Still, he and his Cabinet- can begin by holding town halls throughout the country, expressing his concerns, and offering solutions for engaging the Many in democratic processes that communicate our human reality and engage them in solutions that manifest into actions. He has to cede power back to the process of participation and action. Use economics to pay people to participate in local solutions, clearing the way for democratic participation in our Democracy.
Joe Biden must be a Grandfather for All and welcome the People into the process of participation and action. He has the wisdom of age and the resources of his Presidency. Go to work, Joe - speak to the needs, offer practical ideas, listen to what the People know, and then problem-solve together. Open yourself to a changing America that reflects participation, transparent views, and actions that inspire local involvement under the umbrella of inclusivity and democratic lifestyle choices. Engage Rural White People.
The Wise Old Man -Mr. Biden—archetypically warns and acts to clear the impediments to renewal. Acknowledge mistakes or unwanted outcomes from your decisions, press your populace to problem-solve solutions, and suggest and incentivize ways to capture local attention. such as factually citing the projects your legislation has brought to their neighborhood. ( False modesty doesn’t cut it) Wise Old Men, Mr. President, assume a role in the process, point out the pitfalls, and discuss what common ground looks like. However, if you don’t speak out, you cede the value of old age and the earnings of Wisdom to the hubris of Old Age. Examples abound in the Congress.
Speak to and for us Mr. President, don’t ‘Speech’ to us.
